Sharif Ahmed is a seasoned finance and accounting professional with over 20 years of progressive experience in complex, highly regulated, and mission-driven environments.

His professional background spans healthcare philanthropy, aviation, oil and gas, and public practice. Across these sectors, he has provided strategic financial leadership, strengthened governance and internal control frameworks, and supported large-scale organizational transformation initiatives, including change management, technology-enabled finance transformation, gap analysis, and enterprise risk mapping.

Over the course of his career, Sharif has held progressive roles with a global energy organization, a rapidly growing airline, and a leading Big 4 accounting firm, gaining broad exposure to both operational and strategic finance functions. He currently serves as Manager of Financial Reporting at the University Hospital Foundation, where he is responsible for overseeing core financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and payroll. In this role, he works closely with executive leadership, auditors, and key stakeholders to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, long-term sustainability, and alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Deeply committed to community engagement and professional development, Sharif is a strong advocate for social impact and sustainable change. He is widely recognized for his collaborative leadership approach and his dedication to developing future leaders in the accounting profession. An active CPA mentor, Sharif takes pride in supporting aspiring professionals as they navigate and advance their careers. He previously served for three years on the Executive Committee of the Edmonton Chapter of CPA Alberta and continues to contribute his time and expertise through ongoing professional and community service initiatives.

Sharif is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with CPA Canada and a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and Information Systems. In addition to his formal credentials, Sharif has completed extensive professional development in project controls, cost engineering, enterprise risk management, and advanced analytics, strengthening his ability to support data-driven decision-making and complex financial oversight. Most recently, he completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials program, further strengthening his expertise in board governance, fiduciary oversight, and effective nonprofit leadership.
